Driver Trip Lifecycle: Accept to Complete

Published: 2026-09-07 Author: Wang Lei, Senior Software Engineer

Overview

After accept, the trip moves through driver-side states visible in My trips and chat tags: accepted → in trip → completed. Drivers use navigation to pickup / destination, verify the passenger code at boarding, then start and complete the Course.

Lifecycle Steps

  1. Accept — Lock the order to this driver.
  2. Go to pickup — Navigate; optional chat with passenger.
  3. Verify & board — Confirm trip verification code.
  4. In trip — Drive to destination; status visible on both apps.
  5. Complete — Close the trip; fare settlement per payment method.
  6. Service comments — Ratings / comments where enabled.

Why Fleets Need This

Shared status machines between passenger and driver apps keep ETAs, chat and payment aligned — fewer “trip stuck” tickets for the dispatch desk.

FAQ

Can drivers chat with passengers?
Yes. In-app chat is available around active orders; chat closes when the trip has ended.

Where is trip history?
Under Orders / My trips with trip detail pages for each Course.
